My name is Toon Baggen and I live and work as an artist in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

I would like to introduce you to my work and tell you something about it and the process of making my art.

People connecting to my work is a big inspiration.

The most important thing for me is the creation, making something from nothing.

First there is an expression or a stroke of paint. Then there is a reaction and an idea of what the composition is going to be. The use of colours comes when I decide the atmosphere of the painting.

This is how the painting comes together. There is always an idea, a reaction, or an interpretation of what is going on in my mind. 

My work is mostly abstract. It is for the viewer to decide or he or she has an imagination of what the painting is about. It is very motivating for me to hear people react to my work. This process of reacting is very personal.

What I can say is that it is my intention to create a peaceful- and a sort of Zen-quality and atmosphere in my work. The composition and the world that I create is in harmony and without stress. 

A calming world emphasized by the harmonious colours.
